Dr. Gerard Gold, 95, passed peacefully in his sleep on July 14, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Gerard was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Samuel and Ella Gold. At the age of three, his family moved to Louisville. As a US Marine, he was activated to the Asiatic Pacific Area during World War II. After his return to Louisville, he enrolled and, in 1959, graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He established his practice on Preston Highway and continued for 33 years.
Dr. Gold was a member of the Kentucky Dental Association and Keneseth Israel Congregation, a member of the Men’s Club, and served as a committee member for the congregation’s cemetery. During his free time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, bowling, playing card games, and enjoyed the senior group at the JCC.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother V. Edward Gold.
Surviving Dr. Gold is his wife, Zmira; his daughter Rena Sue Gold, his son David Joseph Gold (Faith); and his grandchildren Courtney and Ellis.
Funeral services are Friday, July 16, 2021, at 12 p.m. at Herman Meyer & Son, Inc., 1338 Ellison Avenue, followed by interment in Keneseth Israel Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
