John Elkan Herzfeld, 93, died December 1, 2021 in Prospect, Kentucky. He graduated from Male High School in 1946 and the University of Louisville in 1950. Shortly after, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He spent most of his career with Atlantic Envelope Company, where he progressed from a salesman to a general manager. Away from work, he was an avid fisherman and community volunteer.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Eve Goldman; daughter Susan Glazer (Mark), son John Herzfeld III, as well as grandchildren Katy Hurt (Wes), Michael Glazer (Sarah), Dylan Holland (Meghan), and Treavor Martin. In addition, he also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a brother, Bob Herzfeld.
Most of all, he leaves a legacy of love, wisdom, patience, and compassion. Everyone who knew him became a better person. The family will have a private remembrance. Contributions to Hosparus Health of Louisville, the Prospect-Goshen Rotary Foundation, or a charity of your choice are welcome.
