Rabbi Jacob S. Halpern, 93

Passed away on April 30, 2018 surrounded by family in Louisville, Kentucky. Jacob was born September 11, 1924 in Krakow, Poland. He was a Talmudic scholar and renowned leader of the global Jewish community.

Jacob is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Gilda; brother, Aron; sons, Marc (Zehava) and David (Ariella); grandchildren, Ronen (Jenny), Tal (Anton), Oz (Amber), Jodi (Aleksey), Jonathan (Liz), and Mia (Adam); and great-grandchildren Eliana, Eli, Julian and Axel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2nd at Herman Meyer & Son, Inc., 1338 Ellison Avenue. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Adath Jeshurun Cemetery. Visitation and prayer will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the family house on May 2nd and May 3rd. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville.
